"The Lighthouse and GLAS invite students of architecture to submit a proposal for an intervention that would be left in or become part of a space or building, a messaging system on architecture, its issues, events and objects. This is an architectural network at its smallest but it has the potential to be one of the most successful - engaging local communities in both rural and urban settings, collecting and depositing ideas and information on architecture."
exert: pigeonhole city competion brief................. .........GLAS
mpf was fortunate enough to win the pigeonhole city competition run by The Lighthouse and GLAS.
The competition entry, which was displayed in the lighthouse, was mounted on a board 84cm square and described as best we could the idea of the project. we also submitted an exampler sketchbook which was mounted beside the project for the duration of the exhibition.
Winning the competition has brought us some local and national publicity from various press sources. But more importantly it has enabled the project to progress, expanding it worldwide.
We have received great support and encouragement from a number of sources which has meant that 50 mpf books, translated into over ten languages, and sent all over the world.
It is intended that the books will eventually
make there way home to Glasgow, and to The Lighthouse. Who has kindly agreed
to be the books 'guardians' and hopefully one day there will be a collection
of mpf books, with ideas, opinions and images from all over the world displayed
in the gallery.
you can view the competition entry online here.
